Horoscope FAQs — Rashi, Lagna & Gochar

A practical guide to Daily, Weekly and Monthly horoscopes, Rashi, Lagna and Gochar—with clear answers to consultation booking and fee enquiries.

Current forecast pages: Daily · Weekly · Monthly

01. Is the Daily Horoscope based on Rashi (Moon Sign) or the Western Sun Sign?

The primary public reference is Janma Rashi (Moon Sign), rather than the Western Sun Sign used in many popular magazine horoscopes. The Moon Sign describes the zodiacal sign occupied by the Moon at birth. Traditional interpretation may also consider Lagna (Ascendant) and current planetary movements (Gochar), but a public sign-based forecast is not an individual chart reading.

02. What is the difference between Rashi and Lagna?

Rashi in this context means the natal Moon Sign; Lagna is the Ascendant, the zodiacal position rising at the eastern horizon at birth. They can be different signs. A Rashi forecast offers general guidance for people sharing a Moon Sign, while a full birth-chart analysis considers the Ascendant and many other factors.

03. What does Gochar mean in a horoscope?

Gochar refers to the movement of planets through the zodiac and their interpretation relative to a chosen reference, often the natal Moon Sign. The current transit pattern changes through time; it is one of the traditional inputs used when discussing short-term themes. Such associations belong to Jyotisha practice and are not scientifically established as reliable predictions of events.

04. How are Daily, Weekly and Monthly forecasts different?

Daily guidance concentrates on immediate themes and relatively fast-changing factors. Weekly guidance considers the pattern across the week, while Monthly guidance places short-term changes in a wider planetary-transit context. These three horizons should be read together rather than treated as three unrelated personal predictions.

05. Which days make up the Weekly Horoscope?

The weekly cycle on Prof Basu Daily Horoscope follows Monday through Sunday. Check the period shown on the Weekly page so that you do not confuse an earlier forecast with the current week.

06. Why can two people with the same Moon Sign have different experiences?

Sharing a Moon Sign does not mean sharing an identical horoscope. Birth time, birthplace, Ascendant, planetary positions, divisional charts and personal circumstances may differ. A public twelve-Rashi forecast necessarily describes broad themes rather than the circumstances of every individual.

07. Do I need my exact birth time to identify my Moon Sign?

A reliable date, time and place of birth are preferable. The Moon changes position continuously, so an approximate date or time can be ambiguous near a Rashi boundary. If the birth record is uncertain, the result should be presented as uncertain rather than assumed. A verified natal chart can help establish the reference sign.

08. Can I enter my birth details here to see My Horoscope?

Not yet. A limited public MY HOROSCOPE facility is planned for a later, validated phase of the J2IE project. When approved and launched, it is intended to calculate a visitor's Moon Sign and display the matching general Daily, Weekly or Monthly forecast. It will not generate a complete personalised prediction or professional consultation report.

09. Will my birth details be stored when that facility launches?

The approved design baseline for the future public tool uses birth details transiently for calculation, without permanent storage or logging raw birth details in analytics. This is a planned privacy requirement, not a claim that the tool is currently available. The final implementation must be tested against that requirement before public launch.

10. Are the published horoscopes automatically refreshed every day?

The long-term J2IE plan includes validated publishing and an archive of recent editions. However, automated publication should not be assumed until the calculation, output and live-publishing checks have passed. Always use the date or period displayed on the page to identify the current edition.

11. Are these forecasts a substitute for a personal consultation?

No. General Rashi forecasts cannot incorporate the full set of individual birth-chart factors. A detailed consultation may examine selected Vargas, the reliability of birth data and the person's specific questions. For available services and professional consultations, use the main ProfBasu website.

12. Should I make medical, legal or financial decisions from a horoscope?

No. Horoscope content should not replace qualified medical, legal or financial advice or independently verified facts. It is an explanation of a traditional interpretative practice, not a guaranteed prediction or an instruction to take consequential action.

CONSULTATIONS & APPOINTMENTS

Booking, Fees & Practical Questions

For service-specific fees and booking conditions, use the official consultation portal.

13. How can I book a personal astrology consultation?

Use the official Book Consultation form to select the appropriate service and provide the requested details. The office will review your request and communicate the appointment confirmation. Simply submitting a request does not reserve a confirmed slot.

14. What are the consultation fees?

Fees depend on the chosen consultation category, scope and complexity. Please check the applicable amount and any advance-payment requirement through the official booking process. A fixed price table is not maintained on the horoscope blog, so visitors are not given outdated amounts. View the available specialities.

15. Can I consult online or by phone instead of visiting the Kolkata chamber?

Yes, online and telephone consultations are offered subject to the service selected and confirmed availability, alongside in-person appointments in Kolkata. See the Contact page for the current consultation schedule and office location. Advance appointment is required.

16. What information is needed before booking?

Please have your full name, contact details and consultation topic ready. For a horoscope consultation, your date, exact time and place of birth may be requested. Vaastu-related enquiries may instead require property information. Use official channels when sharing personal data.

17. Is my appointment confirmed immediately after filling in the form? Can I reschedule?

No. An appointment is confirmed only after the office accepts it and any required advance or booking payment is received. Dates and times are subject to availability. Please request rescheduling as early as possible and review the Cancellation & Refund Policy and Terms & Conditions.
